Hiring tour guides

Get paid to show families your school.

Lead private walking tours of your campus and college town for families deciding where to go. Up to $30 per tour, plus tips.

About the role.

TourCollegeTowns offers private, student-led walking tours for prospective and admitted students and their families. Our tours cover both campus and the surrounding college town, giving families a real look at where students live, eat, and spend their time.

We need tour guides to lead these tours. Our guides are current students who know their school both on and off campus and can share their own experiences along the way. Think of yourself as a family friend or older sibling showing them around. You're giving the parents a tour too, so being able to connect with both matters.

What we're looking for.

Flexible

We can't guarantee a set number of hours per week, and tours can be booked as little as 24 hours in advance. We need guides who can adapt when a tour comes up.

A good communicator

Once a tour is booked, we pass the guest to you. You'll text them to confirm the meeting spot, time, and any details, so clear and timely communication is a must.

Personable

Guests should walk away feeling like they got to know someone who genuinely loves the school.

Knowledgeable and friendly

You should know your school and college town well, both on and off campus, and be able to share that in a warm, approachable way.

What you get.

Pay

Up to $30 per tour: $25 for the tour, plus $5 when the family posts a review. Tips come on top, and you keep 100% of them.

Networking

Many of our guests are successful professionals who are impressed to meet a college student running tours. It's common for parents to hand over their contact info at the end and offer to help with internships or career advice.

People skills

You'll talk with families from all kinds of backgrounds on every tour. Tours aren't scripted, so you learn to read the room, think on your feet, and make people feel comfortable. Those skills carry over to almost any career.

Resume and references

Guiding shows leadership, responsibility, and the confidence to represent a brand, your school, and your town. It gives you real stories to tell in interviews, and the TourCollegeTowns team is happy to vouch for you when you apply to jobs.

Room to grow

We're a lean startup, so strong guides can get involved beyond tours in areas like marketing, social media, content, operations, and partnerships. If there's something you want to get better at, there's a real chance to do it here.

Apply.

Don't worry about spelling or grammar, and please don't use AI to write your answers. We can tell, and it defeats the purpose. Just write what you think. We care way more about how you talk about your school than how polished it sounds.
